Royal Caribbean International has announced an expanded lineup of Mediterranean cruise routes for the 2027 season, adding new port calls across Greece, Italy, and Croatia. The cruise giant confirmed that its newest ship, Icon of the Seas II, will homeport in Barcelona from May through October 2027.
The expanded itineraries will include first-time stops at lesser-known destinations such as Kotor in Montenegro and Heraklion in Crete, catering to travelers seeking authentic Mediterranean experiences beyond the traditional tourist hubs.
Royal Caribbean’s President Michael Bayley stated that demand for Mediterranean cruises has surged over 40% compared to pre-pandemic levels, driving the decision to expand capacity in the region.
